Troy Radon Testing

What’s Radon?

Radon gas is a common-place carcinogen. Radon is scientifically proven to lead to lung cancer in people.

38%+ of homes in the Troy area have a radon concentration above the dangerous amount.

Radon filters out of the silt, not the building. No home- new or old – is exempt from radon.

Each house meshes with the dirt underneath it uniquely. This is why houses next door to others have majorly different radon gas concentrations.

Radon saturation will rise or fall daily and seasonally inside a safe range. A quick radon measurement measures a single day or week and a solid bellwether of if the structure has a radon gas saturation.

Radon has a dangerous duration of about half of a week. Accordingly, radon gas saturation won’t be higher if the structure is closed for months or years.

How Does Radon Infiltrate a Structure?

Surprisingly, homes are not airtight.

Radon can enter through each ground-facing gap in the building such as drains, pipes, and even minor gaps in the concrete foundation.

Your method to know with certainty the accumulation of radon gas in the property is to have a radon test.

Our Radon Gas Testing Procedure

Sampling a house for radon is an important procedure when doing a real estate transaction.

A radon expert will place the radon gas detectors in the home. Radon monitors will be installed in crawl spaces, the level above crawl spaces, and any room touching the earth. Typically between 1 and 3 devices are left in the house for the radon gas test.

Your radon gas expert will seal every window and door, close the flue on the fireplace, and make sure the heater or AC is functioning in the standard manner. Your radon gas expert will also mark every necessary window with tamper indication tape to ensure that closed-home standards are met.

The radon apparatus stay in the building for 2-3 days to measure the amount of radon gas in the house. A technician will return to the house after the radon measurement is completed to take the monitors and create a report.
